Add-Ons
These programs focus on specific academic skill areas and can be used independently or alongside the full 60-Session Reading Comprehension Program.
If your primary goal is improving reading comprehension and independent learning, begin with the complete Reading Comprehension course. If your child needs focused support in a specific area, choose from the programs below.
Available for 2nd & 3rd Grade
Best for: students who repeatedly forget sight words, struggle with high-frequency non-phonetic words, or rely heavily on sounding out words that should be instantly recognized.
Many sight words do not follow predictable phonetic patterns. When students try to "sound them out," they often guess — or forget them the next day. This program teaches students how to use visualization to anchor words in long-term memory, rather than relying on repetition alone.
Instead of drilling the same word over and over, students learn a strategy for mentally "seeing" the word — helping it stick. Once students understand how to visualize words effectively, the same strategy can be applied to spelling lists, vocabulary words, non-phonetic words, and academic terms in other subjects.
What's Included:
30 carefully selected high-frequency sight words
Short 10-minute sessions
5 days per week over 6 weeks
A transferable memorization strategy that extends beyond sight words
This program does more than teach 30 sight words — it teaches a method students can use for years.
Visualization-based writing support
Best for: students who struggle to expand ideas into clear, organized sentences — or who say "I don't know what to write" even when they understand the material.
Many students don't struggle with vocabulary. They struggle with organizing their thoughts before writing. When students can't picture what they want to say, writing feels overwhelming. Sentences become short, repetitive, or disorganized.
This program teaches students how to use visualization to organize ideas mentally before putting them on paper — making writing clearer, more detailed, and more structured. This is not a grammar drill program. It strengthens the thinking process that comes before writing — so sentences become easier to form.
What's Included:
10 short lessons (10–15 minutes each)
Adult introduction audio to guide implementation
Visualization-based vocabulary development
Instruction on building longer, more descriptive sentences
Support for organizing ideas logically
Students often experience:
More complete sentences
Better use of descriptive language
Stronger paragraph flow
Greater confidence in written assignments
Visualization-based math fact fluency
Best for: students who understand multiplication concepts but cannot consistently recall the multiplication tables quickly and accurately.
Many students know how multiplication works — but freeze when asked to recall facts under pressure. That hesitation slows everything down: multi-step math problems, division, fractions, word problems, and timed tests.
This program teaches students how to use visualization to anchor the multiplication tables in long-term memory — so recall becomes automatic rather than effortful. Instead of repetitive drilling that often leads to frustration, students learn how to create mental images that help facts "stick."
What's Included:
16 short lessons
2–3 minutes per lesson
Visualization-based memorization strategy
Flexible pacing — can be individualized
Students often experience:
Increased math confidence
Faster problem-solving
Reduced test anxiety
Less frustration during homework
This program strengthens memory — not just math performance.
For parents & educators
The first half of the book focuses on foundational reading instruction, including exercises to improve decoding, clear explanations of spelling rules, and Janel's spelling technique for words that do not follow phonetic patterns.
This comprehensive guide explains how Janel teaches struggling readers to read — step-by-step.
Because over half the words in the English language do not follow predictable spelling rules (such as the word "enough"), students need structured strategies — not just repetition.
The second half of the book explains how to teach the skill of visualization — seeing pictures in the imagination while listening and reading — with examples and sample pages. Presented in a simple, practical format, this book is designed for parents and educators who want clear instructional guidance — not theory.
Together, these approaches support:
Reading development
Spelling
Comprehension
Memory
Following directions
For younger students
Best for: younger students who benefit from playful, guided visualization practice before moving into longer texts.
This collection includes 35 light-hearted poems designed to help children practice picturing each line clearly in their imagination — an essential skill for strengthening comprehension and memory. Each poem is paired with simple guidance so adults can easily prompt visualization during reading.
Because the poems are short and imaginative, students can focus fully on building the mental imagery skill without feeling overwhelmed by longer passages. A simple, enjoyable way to strengthen the foundation behind reading comprehension.
What's Included:
35 visualization-focused poems
Strengthens foundational visualization skills
Builds attention and listening comprehension
Encourages active engagement with text
Spelling words & multi-step directions
Best for: families who want focused support in two areas that impact daily school success: memorizing non-phonetic spelling words (like "enough") and accurately following 3- and 4-step directions.
This workshop teaches students how to use visualization to strengthen memory and sequencing — two skills that directly affect spelling tests, classroom instructions, homework completion, and overall independence. When students can clearly picture words and instructions in their minds, they are far more likely to remember and apply them correctly.
This is a concentrated, skill-focused experience designed to create noticeable improvement in a short period of time. Ideal for families who want targeted reinforcement without committing to the full 60-session program.
